Music has always been one of my hobbies, and I started DJing in the early 80's, when I was 15, at the time where everything was purely analogue, with a classical mix table and two vinyl turntables. Later on, when the digital appliances became available, I started to make music mixes as a hobby.
I bought my first DJ console (a Hercules DJ Console MKII) in 2005, then switched to a Reloop Digital Jockey Interface Edition 2 in 2010, and finally moved on to a more advanced Denon MC6000-MK2 in 2018, which is a 4-track mixing console.
From a software perspective, I mostly use Atomix Virtual DJ Pro for live mixing, and sometimes use Ableton Live Lite.

The New Wave Mix (2022 edition)

New Wave Mix, reflecting the New Wave scene in Belgium in the end seventies, early and mid eighties.

I am from 1968, so my childhood years were the New Wave years. As most bands are British, available mixes reflected this, which means I couldn't find any mixes that included our Belgian artists, as it were: TC Matic, Neon Judgement, Front242, Nacht Und Nebel, 2 Belgen, ....
Around 2006, I started working on my own New Wave mix, which would also include our Belgian artists and as such better reflect how I had experienced the New Wave era.

The first mix was limited to 79 minutes, as it had to fit on a CD. In 2019 I completely reworked it - as the time constraints had disappeared. The final mix contains 181 songs from over 90 different artists, with the BPM rising from 93 to 173. In 2023, I split the mix - which was over 3h30 - into 3 parts of each about 1 hour and 15 minutes.

The Deep House Mixes / Walking Mixes

A series of mixes with newer and older music, which I created for my walking sessions. All mixes start from a lower bpm and increase over the duration of the mix. The idea is that my steps follow the pace of the music. Some mixes start slowly (110 bpm), while others start at a slightly higher bpm (120 bpm) to end in a really fast pace of 127 bpm). As some tracks contain a "quiet moment" where normally no beat is audible, a light background beat was added which makes it easier to follow the pace and continue walking "on the beat".
